Dr. McCarthy
Dr. Michael McCarthy is a board certified orthodontist and was recently listed in the Guide to America’s Top Dentists.
Dr. McCarthy is a 1983 graduate of the University of Alabama School of Dentistry and received his orthodontic training during his 10 years of service in the United States Army. He has been published in many dental journals, including the American Journal of Orthodontics.
He and his wife, Vicky, graduated from John Carroll High School and are involved in Prince of Peace Church. They enjoy running and have been active with the local high school track and cross country programs. They have two children. Their daughter, Katie, completed her undergraduate degree and her master’s degree in education administration from Samford University. Katie and her husband, Dr. Collin King, currently live in Hoover with their three children. The McCarthy's son, Brian, completed his undergraduate degree from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee and completed his Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama. He married his wife, Amy, in the summer of 2007 and they also currently live in Hoover.
Dr. Hartman
Dr. Erika Hartman received her undergraduate degree in natural science and mathematics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Upon graduation, she went to Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2000. While at Meharry, she received the American Association of Orthodontist Student Award and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. Dr. Hartman, a board certified orthodontist, received her orthodontic training from Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, D.C. She received the Faculty Award in Orthodontics for her achievements during her residency. Dr. Hartman has been practicing with Birmingham Orthodontics since November 2003. She and her husband, Dr. Corey Hartman, currently reside in Homewood, Alabama. Dr. Hartman enjoys spending time with her family, exercising and reading. She remains active in her community and currently is on the Board of Directors for the University of Alabama at Birmingham National Alumni Society and on the Junior Board of Girls Inc.
