Innovation has long been part of the Birmingham Orthodontics story, and we aren’t slowing down anytime soon! Over 25 years ago when Dr. McCarthy founded the practice, it was unheard of to start multiple orthodontic locations. He began with two locations: Hoover and Trussville. Those two cities are still a big part of what we do, but now we have twice as many locations to choose from across the Birmingham area. Each office has its own unique features and convenient location.
We recently moved to a larger, updated facility in Hoover focused on the patient and clinical experience. We started innovating in patient experience 25 years ago and our newest facility is another step in providing you & your family the best experience possible. The new office has more dental chairs and double the capacity for doctors and patients!
The contemporary building and sleek interior were designed by the KPS Group. The award-winning firm has created, updated, or renovated some of the most recognizable buildings in the region. Their work includes the Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport renovation, the Pizitz building renovation, the Ruffner Mountain Nature Center, and Bakers Row. The renovated Merita Bakery was rebranded as Bakers Row and sits across from Railroad Park. The facility now houses KPS Group and other tenants. Birmingham Orthodontics relied on this design pedigree for their new patient-centric office in the Stadium Trace neighborhood of Hoover. We love this area and think it will be the new hub of Hoover for years to come!
The building sits nicely atop a ridge along Stadium Trace Parkway, with our emoticon smile logo greeting visitors. Entering through the front door reveals a modernist and airy waiting area with wraparound windows, colorful furniture and friendly staff.
Have you ever noticed that the waiting area experience at Birmingham Orthodontics is just a little different from your average dentist or doctor’s office? That’s because six years ago we split our phones reception area and front desk duties. We found that our front desk staff is able to focus more on in-person patients when they don’t have to worry about answering the phones. The call center is in a separate, private area. People working the phones can focus on callers and front desk staff can focus on patients walking through the doors. If you give us a call and hear a familiar voice, that’s because our front desk staff split their time between the call center and the front desk. By rotating between the two areas, you’re bound to interact with a familiar face or voice either when you call or come in for an appointment.
But the innovation doesn’t stop there!
At an organizational level, we prefer to look outside the orthodontic industry when thinking about the non-clinical side of the business. The new Hoover office exemplifies this.
Once it’s time for your appointment, you’ll be called back to the open, modern floor plan where we see patients. If you’re visiting for the first time, however, your free consultation takes place in a private setting where you meet one-on-one with a doctor. You can even begin your treatment the same day as your consultation! We’ve found that existing patients and our highly-skilled orthodontists prefer the open layout of our patient area. It’s complete with the same upbeat color scheme, large windows and a contemporary feel. Doctors can look out across the U-shaped floorplan and quickly see the next patient awaiting treatment.
The office also features an in-house lab. That means when you complete treatment and your braces are removed, a retainer will be produced and given to you the same day!
At Birmingham Orthodontics, our mission is simple: we create smiles. Not only do we straighten the crooked grin, fix the bite, and adjust the jaw, we brighten yearbooks, and instill confidence. We also believe in our staff. Our culture of continuous learning drives us to host monthly training sessions for each team and bring in leading industry consultants to help keep us ahead of the curve.
